Engagement and Marriage: Trials and Moral Challenges of the Middle Ages

Engagement and Marriage Trials and Moral Challenges of the Middle Ages

Along with delayed marriage, another big problem we have is keeping engagements pending for a long time.
In some places, engagements have been seen for up to five years. However, a period of two to three years has been considered normal. However, this period between engagement and marriage is the most favorite period of Satan, in which he throws such a pleasant trap on both sides that in today's era, the number of survivors is very small. Because this is the time when usually both the families deliberately provide time for the boy and the girl so that they can talk to each other and get to know each other. When the fiancé calls, the mothers themselves provide solitude so that the girl can talk to her future husband without hesitation. Without thinking that even after wearing the engagement ring, both of them are non-mahram for each other just like any stranger. But then, unfortunately, usually the conversation and relationships are of such a nature that there is no limit to non-mahram and after engagement, to assure the truth in love, different types of pictures and The demands of videos are being met
Remember that Shariah has allowed seeing each other before marriage, but there is absolutely no room for free association and any kind of free gossip
And let's admit that boys and girls are at that stage of life where the attraction felt towards the opposite sex forces them to go closer to their future spouse, but what happened to today's parents?
What blindfold has been put on their eyes that they have also stopped considering these acts as wrong
How can you happily allow your young daughter to talk to a man all night long?
And not only did they allow conversation, but they also started providing various opportunities for the boy and the girl to meet as halal dates.
I will say with apologies that more than the boy's mother, the girls' mothers are more proactive in providing these opportunities, thinking that their daughter will settle in the heart of the husband she will marry before marriage so that there will be no need for anyone else.
And when for any reason there is a high or low in these same families or, God forbid, the engagement breaks down for some reason, these same ignorant mothers cry day and night and get themselves infected with many diseases due to tension, and the father and brother are ready to kill them. Although you know that my and your master Hazrat Muhammad Mustafa (peace be upon him) said: "Whenever a man is alone with a strange woman, there is a third devil in them."
So why should we happily hand over our daughters and sons to the devil? Why push them into a test that will put their faith at stake? Why don't we try to keep our children away from marriage for a long time after their engagement? Why, in obedience to the command of the Most Gracious, give Satan this opportunity to make immorality and evil things permissible and lead our children astray and lead them in the direction whose end Allah Almighty Himself has warned us about in the Holy Quran? If you are a parent, then fulfill your duty as a parent in the true sense of the word.If you allow your children to socialize freely after your engagement with your consent and happiness, then you will be considered a facilitator, not a parent.May Allah Almighty guide us all and make us and our children walk on the straight path.Amen, O Lord of the Worlds.

Moral of the story:

The moral of this story is that the period between engagement and marriage is not only a social and moral challenge but can also prove to be a great opportunity for Satan to tempt. It is the responsibility of parents and families to provide proper supervision and guidance to their children so that the youth can be protected from wrong behaviors and careless association. For this, it is necessary to train them keeping in mind moral and religious principles, so that they can become part of a strong and moral society in the future and be protected from temptation and corruption.
